Workshop overview

In the workshop, we will provide two-way learning opportunities to deepen knowledge through the exchange of opinions between lecturers and participants, and among participants, after the lectures provided by the experts.
This time, we first invite the expert of corrosion and anticorrosion to deepen the understanding about the mechanism and evaluation of corrosion. Next, EGGA, the coordinator of ISO 1416 revision, will explain about the purpose of the revision to provide deeper understanding about the international standards.
We are waiting for your participation.

  1. Corrosion resistance of hot-dip galvanized steel and its evaluation method
Lecturer: Dr. Katsumi Masamura (Representative of KM Research Center)

    Abstract
Hot-dip galvanizing is one of the most common techniques used for corrosion protection of steel structures.
The corrosion resistance of hot-dip galvanizing is improved by the formation of protective films on the surface.
The protective film on the surface of zinc forms various compounds in atmospheric environment resulting excellent corrosion resistance.
This report introduces the effects of environmental factors on zinc corrosion and describes methods for estimating the service life of hot-dip galvanized steel.
  2. About revision of ISO1461
    Lecturer: Dr. Vasile Russ (EGGA)

    Abstract
The international standards for hot-dip galvanizing, ISO1461, was revised in August 2022, and the fourth edition was issued. EGGA will explain overview of this revision to further deepen your further understanding of the standards.
